Fashion + Music = Perfect Marriage!

(Photos courtesy of THEYBF)

I think fashion is synonymous with music.

I find that I come up with better outfits when the music is turned on. Way up. Since Corrinne Bailey Rae came to the music scene about 3 years ago, I have been in love with her voice! And I'm happy to share that her new album On The Sea is equally as fantastic, if not better, than her debut album.

As for CoCo & Breezy - they are simply awesome when it comes to designing sunglasses. I love how unique each one is! I can do without the black lipstick, but they have some of the hottest shades out right now..

Some Guy Spits Fire....

Its not tai chi, its thai tea.
Your probably thinking, why me?,
You wanna get drunk wit a 151 I.V.
Your blood is poisonous like the blog of ivy,
You touch toys in the store cuz they say try me,
Leave me alone hi and then bye me,
I'm buzzin like a fly bee,
I see a rita's icee the same color as my pee,
Liquid from a dog's two wee's,
Is the reason I can't play my wii

- Ghai -

Genius, hilarious....what else can be said? HAHAHAHA

Persistent Thoughts

It's 10 am on this beautiful Sunday and while I should still be asleep, my thoughts won't let me.

I've created 2 performance pieces for Open Mic Night at Busboys and Poets. We - me, My Love, Grisel, Del & Denise, Vina, Dad, Karley, Stella, and Cyd - went last week but it was sold out. We're better prepared this week though, so if you have time come through!

I refused to have anything but peanut M&M's this morning. A few minutes later, a funny thought came about:

Uncovering a cheater is like a hangover. You know all that alcohol ain't good for you but you consume all you can until you can't take anymore, you barf, then you wake up the next day wishing you made a better decision.

I was inspired by that movie Hangover which was hilarious! Relationships are already difficult as they are and require a lot of work, but if it's worth it then you do all you can to make sure it survives.

Random fact: Peanut M&M's is brain food for me. Sometimes I think most of my great work was created through several bags of these.

If you can, you should come out this Wednesday @ BB&P and check out the amazing poets around the DMV.

Ooohhh....SEXY!!

Here's my list of the top 5 sexiest men ever!!

Common & Idris Elba are both equally my number 1, but if I had to pick, Common would win hands down. I miss Maxwell and his great music. Glad he's coming back, but I wish Tank was doing the same thing! Ugh, it's been awhile since I've heard one of his lovely romantic songs. In the end though, all of these men are sexy in their own ways.

Enjoy ladies!!

I just LOVE these....

I love Lilies!!

Stargazer, Tiger, Water, etc... I LOVE THEM ALL! During my nephew's baptism, the previous mass held for a Quincenera had a beautiful arrangement, but as always only the lilies stuck out.

Damn YOU Allergies

I have a love/hate relationship with Spring.

I love the weather - perfect medium, not too hot, not too cold - BUT my allergies make me feel so horrible that I would rather lock myself inside my room and not come out until Summer. Seriously.

The smell of mulch, freshly-cut grass, POLLEN....need I say more?!?! I was suffering from watery and itchy eyes simultaneously, sneezing uncontrollably, etc. I usually take Claritin 24-hour allergy however I heard about this Allergy Buster which promises to do the following:

Allergy Buster is 100% natural, combining the power of capsaicin pepper extract with nettle extract to provide maximum relief of allergy symptoms. From your very first spray, you’ll feel the power of the capsaicin working right where you need it.

Allergy Buster safely desensitizes the nerve fibers that react to allergy triggers while also blocking the environmental factors associated with those triggers.
This formula quickly relieves:

* Nasal Congestion
* Runny Nose
* Sneezing
* Sinus Pressure & Headache

And as an ‘all natural’ nasal spray Allergy Buster is carefully formulated without chemicals, additives or preservatives of any kind – no yeast or grains – no steroids. It is non-habit forming with no known drug interactions. And it comes in a recyclable, environmentally-friendly glass bottle.

I'm going to try it and let you all know how it goes....

WTF is wrong with this?

I was at the library the evening of Wednesday, April 15th studying for my exam the following day. The library is now my second home - I mean what more could you ask for? Unlimited access to books, periodicals, DVDs, etc. You just have to remember to bring it all back or else you'll suffer late fees, but what's so difficult about that? Hhmm....you'd be surprised how most people forget LOL

I came across this Lacoste ad from Glamour magazine and saw a few problems I had with it. The two front and center models are, of course, not a minority. BUT THE OTHER TWO THAT WERE CUT OFF ARE!!! They couldn't have moved the fan?! Or cropped it to ensure everyone is shown?!?!?!

Our current technology will allow us to photoshop and crop until the editing looks decent. You see most of these models, actors, pseudo actresses on the magazine covers photoshopped to death to make sure their imperfections aren't obvious.

If they had removed that fan and showed everyone appropriately, I wouldn't be so infuriated. Am I simply overreacting or is this an issue that should be addressed by Glamour magazine or Lacoste???

Game Day

Evan & I are going to the Nats vs. Phillies game tonight along with a family friend, Stella. I'll post pics from the game in the next post.

Oh, I take my exam today as well. Hopefully, the study sessions will pay off - wish me luck!!!

What a Beauty!

I came across these beautiful tulips at a stop light. That's right a stop light - while driving!

As previously stated, I have become obsessed with capturing beautiful sights and random things with my awesome camera. I love how the rain drops managed to stay on the flower - it looks exquisite!

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter Everyone!!!

Last Friday, April 11th was a horrible day for me. There's been so much ongoing BS in my life, but the beautiful flower you see above put a few things in perspective for me. It was just so pretty I was almost forced to capture the moment.

Life isn't so bad. I mean you shouldn't dwell on insignificant matters when there are other great things going on in your life. Thanks to family and friends, I get through life's struggles just fine - I love you all!!!

Train Ride

The little ones & big kids went on the train ride during Devin's birthday party. Even though some of us could barely fit inside (Evan LOL), it was a lot of fun as we all shared haunting house/forest stories to keep ourselves entertained. There wasn't much scenery to look at except for random people in the woods walking their dog while everyone else stayed on the path. Hhhmmm, weird.....

Alll Suited Up

My mom or as the family refers to her lovingly, Nay, took Devin to church yesterday for Palm Sunday. She dressed him up in this peach & khaki ensemble and he looked so handsome!!

Spring Flowers

I was just goofin' around when I took these pics but they actually turned out to be rather beautiful. I believe these are daffodils and hyacinths - the colors left me in awe.

As we went through the "train path", the scenery wasn't much to talk about except for the randomly placed logs and daffodils....

New Shoes

I got some new shoes yesterday - thanks to my S.O.

I thought the saleslady was hilarious though! After she rang us up, she addressed me as "Mrs. Mullings". LMAO!

I didn't know whether to be embarassed, but I felt my face getting red and my heart beating fast. I could not stop laughing though. I suppose if your man bought you some shoes - COACH shoes at that - you are presumably the "wife". Lol I guess .....

Writer's Block...Could it Be?

It's the 2nd of December and currently 12:52 am .... for some reason that is all that has come across my mind. It's safe to say I'm taking a mental break lol ....

Current Mood: PERPLEXED

To me, life is simple. People make it complicated. You put on your thinking cap, grab something to eat, and go on about your day. Ideally, one would expand his/her mind by educating his/her self (suggestion: read at least 2 books per month). They establish their career by presenting themselves as the BEST possible candidate for the job via higher level of learning (i.e. college, graduate school, certifications, etc.). Experience, while it can sometimes be critical, will only get you so far.

I've observed that some people lack, either completely or partially, THE MOST VITAL "thing" that we all should possess: COMMON SENSE. It's been inquired before, but I'll reiterate it once again. The birth of this blog came upon my realization of the one question most people have to think about before they answer. An essential thing most people fail to acknowledge as being, well, essential. Do you have common sense? Do you have to think twice when answering this question? Have you realized that you can un-complicate most and all matters just by choosing the ideal path? That life, while it can be convoluted, is actually quite un-complicated?

My perceptive mind tells me that what you say is what you really mean. While the intention is tentative, in the end it's neither here nor there. I abhor when people say, 'You disgust me!' or 'You're stupid!' or 'I'm so over it!', then comes back to try and save face. I know better and while everyone's got multiple personalities they care not to explore, somewhere in the past or future you have felt that way towards me, so please save yourself the embarrassment and don't insult my intelligence! I understand the difference between a joke and blatantly expressing how you feel - with or without violence.

I've been in situations where a disagreement turns into a heated debate and in turn people say some things they don't mean. That's fine. But somewhere in your mind, whether preconceived or not, that thought has passed you by. Suffice it to say, thinking before you speak will save you trouble in the end. While you shouldn't suppress your feelings, you should be aware of how you will affect that person once you confront them. Next to COMMON SENSE, is EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. Simply put, choose your words wisely. That with all things considered, it should come naturally to us all - as told to me by a very intelligent man (who has just reached his half-century mark and also the father of my significant other). One of my favorite people in this world originates from China and has had a huge impact in my life. I've learned to listen more, but I'm very likely to interrupt you with my mind working overtime. To listen more is still a feat I'd like to conquer.

Please keep in mind that my thoughts, opinions, views are simply MINE. I'm certain everyone's got their own and if not, then someone else's. My intent isn't to offend you, but to have you not dig too deep that you fall into a hole of what ifs, ands, or buts!

BABIES GALORE

Here's Jaiden Amari Branch, Jaylen Mercer (with his dad), and Devin Banzuelo. ALL UNIQUELY ADORABLE & PROMISING YOUNG LITTLE MEN.

I remember on November 4th when I first held Jaiden, it was like the very first time I saw Devin. I couldn't look away. I fell in love almost instantly.

I'll leave MOMMYHOOD to others for now because I AM SO NOT READY. The horror stories I've heard; I will pass for now. I suppose you never really know when and sometimes it isn't really planned, but I'll make certain to take the necessary precautions times 10....

GEMINIS

These are a few fave pics from the GEMINI BDAY Celebrations this past summer.
